Training programs
GEMNET-Health has collaboratively offered workshops since 2014, taught by an international team of instructors drawn from GEMNet-Health’s pool of experts. Joint workshop topics range from impact evaluation, routine health information systems, health informatics, and qualitative evaluation methods. Networks member also offer workshops and degree programs on a range of topics related to health system strengthening such as data quality, health information systems, data analysis, data use, M&E, impact evaluation, program management, health economics and cost effectiveness.
Curriculum development
GEMNet-Health has developed core competencies for M&E training programs and postgraduate-level evaluation courses; curricula on M&E of health programs, routine health information systems, health informatics impact evaluation, and qualitative evaluation theory. GEMNet-Health is also developing a curriculum for postgraduate education in evaluation.
Technical Assistance
As a network with a diverse set of skills and experiences and with members located throughout the world, GEMNet-Health is well-placed to offer technical assistance to others interested in pursuing activities around capacity building related to M&E and HIS topics. Examples include developing a new course for inclusion in a master’s program, adapting existing materials to a particular country or regional focus, and developing online learning courses. Faculty form the GEMNet-Health partners have strong experience working at country and regional levels on evaluations, with health information systems. The structure of GEMNet-Health allows the network to serve as an effective mechanism for organizing and building upon the collective technical capacity of network members. GEMNet-Health well positioned as a key resource and instrument for global work in M&E and health information systems.
